Palmer Trinibots Rank #1 This year, the brand new Middle School Robotics Club, dubbed the Palmer Trinibots, made their mark in the world of middle school robotics. The team was made up of three members: sixth-grader Daniela del Rosal and seventh- graders Ben Arnold and Jack Sulkes. On December 9, 2017, the team joined its first ever competition at the W. R. Thomas Annual Robotics Open. It was an amazing event featuring 32 competing teams. During the day-long event the team competed in driving and programming challenges and earned 3 rd place out of 32 teams! They also joined other schools' teams during teamwork challenges and earned 2 nd place out of 12 team pairs. On Saturday, January 20 th , the Palmer Trinibots went to their second competition ever: the ACSP Middle School Qualifier. The team created a STEM Research project focusing on the design and creation of a medical assistant robot and the ethical dilemmas that engineering it might face. They also prepared an engineering notebook chronicling their design, build, and testing processes. Daniela and Jack presented the project and then moved on to the skills events to drive and run their autonomous programs. Ben was the lead programmer for the autonomous portion. The Palmer Trinibots won the Skills Challenge award and Excellence award at the competition and were ranked #1 in the State of Florida, #11 in the United States, and #20 in the world out of 1,800+ middle schools. palmertrinity.org 12 BIRD'S EYE VIEW
