"A few lessons I learned from my fancy
cake making experience that I hope
you will take with you as we enter the
next phase of our life are to never give
up, don't be afraid to ask for help, and
to never judge a book by its cover. As
we embark on our new collegiate lives,
it will be tempting to judge people by
first impressions. But I implore you
to give people a chance because they
might surprise you and turn out to be
your new favorite dessert. Next, don't
give up if things don't go according to
plan. Our generation is so used to the
internet and immediate answers that if
we hit a roadblock, our first thought is
'This is impossible' and we give up."

"Never forget who you are. Never lose
sight of the values that make you up as
a person. Palmer Trinity is a different
school. Never, have I seen a place
where so many people smile at you.
This school has a kindness and a love
in its student body. Our past is not just
a memory. It is a force which drives
and steers our present selves. As we
move our separate ways, we cannot lose
sight of this. Moving forward, spread
light wherever you go. Shine a light
from your heart, not just the wisdom
from your mind. Leave a legacy."

"We must indulge our uniquely human
desire to help strangers, and fulfill our
uniquely human capacity to do so.
Any ant can construct a hive for the
millions of other ants that look exactly
like it, any dog can dig out a den for the
packmates that help it hunt for food, but
only humans can build a sanctuary.
So as the walls come down,
I leave you with this:
Use the tools you have been given to
build a house. Leave the door open.
And you will make of this world a
home. Thank you and Godspeed."
