Diwali: Be A Light Ms. Sidhu's juniors were tasked with an important project during Diwali this year: identify a need in the world and design a project to bring "light" to it. Her students contemplated this task and realized that they had the opportunity to bring light to people right here on our campus. The students designed and hung up posters around campus to honor the maintenance and security crews. Not only did they surprise the crews with posters, but they also brought them coffee and donuts. By encouraging our maintenance and security, students inspired the rest of the community to go forth and shed light wherever they go. Iman Sandifer Breakthrough's New Associate Site Director By Jonah Stevens, Breakthrough Site Director Breakthrough Miami is filled with talented and impressive people, from the scholars and volunteers to the staff and Parent Network. I'd like to officially introduce you to one of them, our new Associate Site Director, Iman Sandifer. Mr. Iman G. Sandifer is a proud native of Hallandale Beach, Florida. His connection to and love for Breakthrough started when he was a Teaching Fellow back in 2012. Back then, he taught Humanities and a Youth Leadership elective. Iman went to Florida A&M University, earning his BS degree in History, followed by a Masters of Educational Leadership. He also served in other various educational capacities including the Head Royce School Heads Up program in California. Iman loves the arts and public speaking, and is inspired to help the youth because of the vast contributions made by those before him. Iman says, "My experience at Breakthrough Miami has been very great so far! Having the opportunity to influence the lives of some of Miami's brightest young minds is a great privilege and responsibility. I cherish my time in this space and I know I will grow both as a professional and overall as an individual because of it. I love being here at Palmer Trinity as well. Everyone is extremely polite and always eager to make you feel like part of the family." Please feel free to contact Iman anytime at iman@breakthroughmiami.org. If any PTS parents are interested in getting involved with Breakthrough Miami, please reach out to our co-chairs Kim Vinas (kimkvinas@gmail. com) or Gisela Segredo (gisela.segredo@gmail.com).
