Gardening
Project
If you walked around near the
Humanities building this year, you
couldn't miss the plots of plants
and vegetables growing ever taller.
The project is an interdisciplinary
effort, bringing math and science
together. In October, the 6
th
grade math teachers took their
students out to the garden to
measure individual plots, laying
the groundwork for the science
students to plant their crops.
The 6
th
grade science classes
grew and maintained the plants.
They selected crops, planted them,
tended to them, and harvested
the vegetables. Throughout the
year, food grown in the garden
was cooked and served to the
community to taste. The purpose
of this project was to show the
symbiotic relationships between
plants and animals.
