THE BATTLE OF THE OAR is a long-standing tradition that began in the fall of 1974. The oar was chosen as a symbol to represent then Palmer School's and Ransom's relationship to the nearby bay, as well as their mascots, the Pirates and the Raiders. Every year since, Palmer Trinity students fill the stands as we take on our rival, Ransom Everglades. Over 30 years of wins and losses between the two schools are written on the oar's paddle. This year, after a long streak of losses, we managed to take back the oar! The oar has stood proudly in the library in front of the Head of School's office for all to see throughout the year.
