Making
Connections
Across the Globe
By Suzanne Calleja, Associate Head of School for
Communications & Strategic Partnerships
Every year, the Global Connections Seminar brings
together Heads of Schools and senior educators
from across the globe to meet with and learn from
one another, explore different parts of the world, and
discuss important issues related to the future of
youth education. In March 2020, Palmer Trinity School
welcomed Heads of School from 28 different countries
to sunny South Florida for a week of conversation, fun,
and of course, learning.
During this visit—which marked the 21
st
Global
Connections Seminar—participants joined in
educational sessions that addressed topics like
"Climate Change and Human Migration," "Marine
Science and Environmentalism," and "Latin American
Migration." Guests also explored the Perez Art Museum
Miami, South Beach, The Rosenstiel School, Deering
Estate, and the Everglades, and got to meet Florida
International University (FIU) professors, the former
President of Costa Rica, different scientists and artists,
and even Richard Blanco, former Poet Laureate.
We are so honored to be a part of the Global
Connections Foundation, and we look forward to
continuing to work alongside them to further our own
global consciousness, promote cooperation amongst
international school communities, and learn from other
leaders in education worldwide.
