The Lessons and Carols service gave students and their families the opportunity to celebrate Advent, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa as a community. The service included musical pieces by the PTS Symphony Orchestra, Palmer Trinity Singers, PTS Guitar Ensemble, and reading selections, as well as lighting of candles to celebrate the following holidays: Hanukkah: a time to celebrate the miracle of light and the essential gift of freedom. Escaping violence and destruction, the Maccabees were able to find new life in safety. Kwanzaa: a time to recognize the profound gift of tradition. All are grateful for the harvests that enrich our lives and nourish us. With light and gratefulness, the time of gathering the crops and gathering as a community is celebrated. Advent: a time of preparation and waiting for the Light that ushers in the new church year. One candle is lit each week, on the four Sundays before December 25, to mark the forthcoming birth of Jesus Christ. Following the service, all gathered around Lane Plaza and the Bacardi Quadrangle to see the Tree Lighting. The night ended with a flair: Santa (Head of School, Patrick Roberts), the Grinch (Head of Upper School, Ashley Chapman) and Frosty the Snowman (Head of Middle School, Pete Tolmach) arrived in style on a bedecked golf cart. They greeted students and families with candy, high fives and Christmas cheer. LES SONS AND CAROL S Scan to Watch Tree Lighting Video 40 PALMERTRINITY.ORG E V E N T S
