L E T T E R F R O M T H E E D I T O R After being at Palmer Trinity for over 18 years, during which we produced 24 editions of the Aerie magazine, it took me a little more time this year to decide what I wanted to say. Then, I looked at all of the articles that were submitted for publication in the magazine, and I realized how genuinely fortunate I am to work at a school that has so many exciting opportunities on and off campus – opportunities faculty and students can't wait to write about. This year, I had the privilege of chaperoning the Hague Model United Nations Conference in January, an event beautifully captured in Camila Gomes' article on page 20. As I read the article, I was reminded that Palmer Trinity's commitment to global exploration is intertwined with nurturing creativity. The conference offered our students a stimulating environment where they could engage in lively debates, devise innovative solutions, and embrace diverse perspectives. It was a celebration of creativity in diplomacy, where young minds dared to dream big and think outside the box. In another article, on page 16, exploring the timeless essence of creativity, Ashley Chapman, the Head of the Upper School, delves into the enduring legacy of Shakespeare and poses a crucial inquiry: is Shakespeare still relevant today? As Mr. Chapman skillfully navigates through the archives of literary history, he highlights the profound impact of Shakespeare's works on human thought, emotion, and cultural fabric. He reminds us that despite the passage of centuries, Shakespeare's masterpieces continue to resonate with contemporary audiences, transcending the boundaries of time and societal evolution. Through this piece, Chapman invites us to reflect upon the enduring power of creativity, reminding us that the genius of Shakespeare remains as relevant and influential today as it was when it was written all those years ago. As we see in these articles, our School provides resources and support for students to engage in creative endeavors beyond the classroom. We value the arts as a means of self-expression and personal growth. Whether it's through visual arts, music, theater, or creative writing, students are encouraged to explore their artistic talents and find their unique voices. These artistic outlets not only enhance their academic journey but also foster emotional intelligence, empathy, and a deeper appreciation for the beauty of human expression. As we reflect on the creative endeavors happening at Palmer Trinity, illustrated on the following pages, we are reminded of the immense potential within each of our students. Our school's commitment to nurturing creativity is a testament to the belief that innovation is the driving force behind positive change. By empowering our students to think creatively, we are preparing them to become leaders, problem solvers, and visionaries who will shape a better future for themselves and others.
