I have taught middle and high school science at Palmer Trinity School for the last 10 years. WHAT ASPECTS OF THE SCHOOL'S CULTURE OR VALUES DO YOU FIND MOST ENDURING OR MEANINGFUL, BOTH AS A STUDENT AND NOW AS A FACULTY/STAFF MEMBER? We talk all day about community but without this community I wouldn't have all the wonderful things in my life at the moment including my wife, children, and some of the most enduring friendships to this day. The autonomy and superb work-life balance is hard to find in most professions. WHY DID YOU COME BACK TO PTS TO WORK? This school offered me so much and I had very influential teachers that shaped me as a student as well as a professional. I wanted to be that teacher for students. Someone they could confide in, someone they could learn from, someone that inspires them to be better each day. The four mile commute to campus in Miami certainly helps! HOW DO YOU BALANCE YOUR ROLES AS AN ALUM AND A MEMBER OF THE FACULTY/STAFF? DO YOU FIND ANY CHALLENGES OR ADVANTAGES IN THIS DUAL ROLE? I find my role as an alumnus and faculty member to be an asset. I have the benefit of hindsight and the experience as a student to really empathize and understand what they're going through and reflect on what I would've wanted if I were them. I feel very lucky social media was not what it is today when I was a student. FINALLY, IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU'D LIKE TO SHARE ABOUT YOUR UNIQUE PERSPECTIVE AS BOTH AN ALUM AND A CURRENT MEMBER OF THE PTS COMMUNITY?
