CL ASS OF 1992 56 W W W. PA L M E R T R I N I T Y. O R G A LU MNI PROF IL E When Brittney McCabe first walked on to the grounds of Palmer Trinity School in 1992, she had no idea that she would discover passions that would lead her to become an educator at this school. With the encouragement of her friends, she got involved in as many aspects of school life as she could. She became a cheerleader, an editor of the school newspaper, a member of student government, a member of the National Honor Society, and a Peer Counselor, among others. Not only was she highly involved in extra-curricular activities, she was also an enthusiastic learner. "I was always a serious student, so I jumped into the AP program. I'm proud to say I was one of four students in Palmer Trinity's very first AP Chemistry classes. at class remains one of the most challenging courses I've ever taken, and I'll always remember how those incredible academic challenges really brought the class together." As a self-proclaimed history and literature nerd, Brittney didn't find herself inclined to science. However Dr. Vincent Stumpo, the AP Chemistry teacher at the time, pushed her to move out of her comfort zone and challenge herself. "It was the most difficult course I've ever taken in my life. It was relentless and incredibly demanding. Dr. Stumpo would have us come in on Saturdays to take full-length practice exams, and then we'd have to stay to review and correct them. I thought the year would never finish. In the end, every single one of us got 5's on the exam. I'll never forget the voice message from my mother informing me of the score. It was an incredibly proud moment for me, and it would not have happened without Dr. Stumpo. He really made me feel like I could accomplish anything. To this day he remains one of the most influential educators I've ever had." Her love for global education began at Palmer Trinity School while attending a variety of study abroad programs. She spent one summer in Oxford, England studying Art History and Journalism. During her junior year, she traveled to Salamanca, Spain. "I put my Spanish skills to the test during that trip. My good friend and fellow Palmer Trinity School alumna Jayne Truckenbrod and I stayed with a host MRS. McCABE IS A WORLD CULTURES TE ACHER HERE AT PALMER TRINIT Y SCHOOL. HER PASSION FOR TE ACHING, SOCIAL ACTIVISM, POLITICS, AND GLOBAL CONNECTIONS WAS CULTIVATED THROUGH THE INSPIRING AND ENGAGING EDUCATION SHE RECEIVED WHEN SHE HERSELF WAS A STUDENT AT PALMER TRINIT Y SCHOOL.
