At seventeen years old, his family made a decision to move to the United States that would change his life forever. rough company benefits, his father was offered the chance to have Juan Camilo's education completely paid for. And so, wanting his son to receive an international high school diploma and perfect his English, Juan Camilo was enrolled in Palmer Trinity School as a senior. Adjusting to life in a new country with a different culture was not easy. "During the first couple of months I felt like a fish out of water. I had no friends, and everyone in the senior class already knew each other," said Juan Camilo, "I was an outsider." Faculty member Raul Gonzalez remembers, "Juan Camilo Maldonado was always an outstanding student. Even back in high school his love for literature and theater were evident. He was at the top of my Spanish AP Literature course and had already published a poetry Juan Camilo Maldonado Tovar CL ASS OF 2001
