59 S U M M E R 2 0 1 7 A LU M N EWS D I S T I N G U I S H E D A L U M N I AWA R D S Following the Athletic Hall of Fame Induction, alumni had the opportunity to celebrate and catch up with former classmates and teachers. e evening also included the presentation of our Distinguished Alumni Awards to Jan (Risi) Field '77 (Head of School's Award), presented by Craig Zimmett '77, and to Brittney (Hoffman) McCabe '99 (Founder's Award), presented by Adrianna Truby. e Founders' Alumni Award recognizes alumni who have helped to fulfill the vision of the founders of the Palmer, Trinity, and Palmer Trinity Schools. It is awarded to individuals who have been deeply concerned about Palmer Trinity School and who have demonstrated honor, courage, and leadership. After graduating from Smith College with a degree in Political Science, Brittney earned a master's degree in Gender Studies at George Washington University. She served for many years in the social justice and nonprofit sectors before returning to Palmer Trinity as a passionate educator. She has also volunteered for nearly every alumni opportunity offered, including Alumni College & Career Day, the Admission Advisory Committee, as a Class Agent, the Alumni Annual Fund and ultimately serving on the inaugural Alumni Association Board. e Head of School's Alumni Award recognizes distinguished service to the community that exemplifies Palmer Trinity School's mission — a commitment to the moral, spiritual, intellectual, physical and creative growth of all members of our community. After graduation, Jan earned a double major from De Pauw University and a Master's degree from UCLA. In 1996 she began her own company, Independent Purchasing Cooperative, now a global leader in the quick-service food industry. As a former Palmer Pirate, Jan has volunteers to plan and host reunions for our Alumni from the 70s.
