As it states in our Portrait of a Graduate, "Palmer Trinity School educates our students to be… Global Citizens who strive to recognize their universal humanity and appreciate their responsibility towards each other and the world." As such, we are a traveling school with a global footprint that rivals many independent schools around the world. We live the mission here at PTS. We do not conduct "trips," but rather we run "travel experiences." Faculty "chaperones" do not lead these experiences, but rather "travel leaders." Travel experiences at Palmer Trinity are not merely about visiting new places; they are about cultivating global citizens who possess the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to thrive in a rapidly evolving world. By immersing students in diverse cultures, fostering empathy and understanding, and promoting active engagement with global issues, travel experiences at PTS serve as transformative opportunities for personal and intellectual growth. PTS recognizes that not all students may have the desire or opportunity to travel abroad, therefore we are committed to integrating global perspectives into our curriculum. For example, our International Baccalaureate Diploma program and offerings of regional histories in our History Department are two pathways that provide a robust global education experience. We also provide a wide array of extra curricular opportunities as well, including international student virtual exchanges with the Global Education Benchmark Group (GEBG), participation in local Model United Nations (MUN) conferences including our own Miami Model UN (MIAMUN) Conference and multicultural events like our renowned PTS International Festival. By providing diverse educational experiences both inside and outside the classroom, we ensure that all students have the opportunity to develop a nuanced understanding of the world and their place within it. We are very intentional about preparation for travel and recognize there are important components to the "before, during and after" stages of these transformational experiences. Educational objectives are established by our faculty travel leaders as an extension to what they teach in their classrooms. Prior to embarking on their journeys, students undergo comprehensive preparation that goes beyond logistical details. We encourage our students to open their hearts and minds, develop travel resilience and apply situational awareness as the fundamental tenets of their travel experiences. Through experiential learning activities and reflective exercises such as journal writing, students are equipped with the tools and cultivate the mindset necessary to navigate unfamiliar environments with confidence and empathy. Travel experiences have the power to profoundly impact students' personal and intellectual growth. It is through the challenges and complexities of travel that students are confronted with their own assumptions, biases, and limitations, ultimately leading to transformative learning experiences. By immersing themselves in new cultures, confronting unfamiliar perspectives, and navigating the complexities of the global landscape, students develop a broader understanding of the world and their role within it. As they return to PTS and beyond, I hope they carry with them a lifelong curiosity, a perspective rendered more discriminate than the average by its ability to draw comparisons and a sense of responsibility to effect positive change in their communities. 3 Number of Continents Visited is School Year 24 Number of School Trips (Domestic & International) 813 Number of Palmer Trinity Student Travelers 15
